Mark Wheat is filling in for Jim McGuinn on this week's Teenage Kicks, where the featured artists are the English Beat, who are playing at First Avenue & 7th St Entry mainroom on Saturday night. We'll hear how they grew out of the second wave of ska in the late '70s to become one of the New Wave bands to have the biggest pop hits in the U.K. We'll hear some of their classics, and a brand-new tune. We'll also celebrate the anniversary of the first U.S. punk band to play in the U.K., and from some of the bands that they influenced there. And it's Ringo Starr's birthday!
