The Police, "Outlandos d'Amour"
November 17, 2018
Punks in the '70s in Britain saw a shared attitude in the reggae music from Jamaica, with the Clash and Elvis Costello among the artists who were recording songs that bridged the genres in 1977. But it was the 1978 debut album of The Police, "Outlandos D'Amour," that carried the pairing throughout an entire album, and became one of the biggest debut albums of the decade - birthing the phrase New Wave, and introducing the world to Gordon Sumner, aka Sting, and one of his most famous songs - Roxanne. The Police and their debut album turns 40 this week, we'll celebrate on Teeange Kicks.
