Recently, two new compilations on Alex Chilton's music in the '80s were released: "Songs From Robin Hood Lane" focuses on Chilton's foray into jazz standards, while "From Memphis to New Orleans" highlights some of Chilton's best rock songs of that era - and while neither collection contains the kind of material that made Alex Chilton a legend from his work with Big Star and the Box Tops, each showcases the diverse and rich talent he brought to all his music, even when it was misunderstood or confusing at the time. We'll dig into songs from those releases, and we'll add a couple classics from the catalog of Alex Chilton - our featured artist this week on Teenage Kicks.
