Teenage Kicks®
Leo Fender
August 10, 2019
Mark Wheat fills in this week for Jim McGuinn. This week's featured artist wasn't a recording artist at all; in fact, he couldn't even play the guitar. But Leo Fender built some of the guitars that some people say have played the best rock and roll ever: the Telecaster, the Stratocaster, the Precision Bass and more. We'll hear them all, from the Stones, the Boss, the Clash, and the Edge. Maybe even Bob Dylan — the Fender is what turned him electric! We'll celebrate the birthday of Leo Fender, plus some other birthdays: for Joe Jackson, for Andy Bell from Oasis and Ride, and for one of the Sparks. And musically, we'll celebrate that school is still out for the summer.
