Teenage Kicks®
Tribute to Ric Ocasek
September 21, 2019
This week on Teenage Kicks we pay tribute to the late Ric Ocasek, who passed away Sunday at the age of 75. We'll dig into the self-titled debut by his band The Cars, an album that established them as the leading voice of the New Wave - influenced by punk and art rock, with darkly melodic songs, somehow both weird and catchy, and that combo captured the zeitgeist of the America in the late '70s. After the Cars broke up, Ocasek turned to record production, and we'll hear from Matthew Caws and Justin Pierre on what they learned from him, producing their bands Nada Surf and Motion City Soundtrack. It's a tribute to Ric Ocasek - this week on Teenage Kicks.
