Earlier this month, L.A. Buckner, a talented drummer and educator from North Minneapolis hit No. 1 on the iTunes jazz charts with his exploratory new album, BiG HOMiE. It's such a great record, with complex grooves that call on L.A.'s love of hip hop, neo-soul and gospel. We'll also sample a few of the tracks from the forthcoming METOOMPLS compilation, which is due out on Sept. 24. You'l hear powerful new tunes from Annie Mack and Chastity Brown.
