The Cure, 'Boys Don't Cry'
February 06, 2021
This week on Teenage Kicks, we'll celebrate The Cure's Boys Don't Cry album, released Feb 5, 1980 … which is sort of, but not really, the same album that came out the previous May in the U.K. called "Three Imaginary Boys" — it was a thing that used to happen all the time — even to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Clash — where the U.S. label doesn't release a British album, and then when they do, they change the song sequence, add new tracks, and completely mess with the artist's vision — but sometimes you end up with the better version of album, such is the case with the U.S. release, adding the tracks "Jumping Someone Else's Train" and "Boys Don't Cry." We'll play those and more this week on Teenage Kicks — let's make Robert Smith happy!
