Over the years, we've featured The Jam and Paul Weller (Jim McGuinn's hero), but we've never done a feature on Weller's band between the Jam and his solo career — The Style Council. There was a great British documentary on the band last year, and a triple LP compilation just out that nails it. For Weller, it was a time of freedom, from the hard guitar rock of the Jam and the pressure of being the U.K.'s biggest rockstar, and he indulged his Ever Changing Moods with his musical partner Mick Talbot — exploring soul, jazz, pop, politics, with a cheeky sense of humor and some of the best songs, singing, and musicianship of his career.
