June was Pride Month, but this weekend its Pride Weekend in the Twin Cities — and at Teenage Kicks, that means we go full two hours with songs of pride: joy, activism, and community. The 'Kicks era was a new beginning as more than ever before, artists and songs came forward, came out, and became part of the culture and conversation on sexuality and life. It was a time of great sadness as AIDS began to claim lives tragically early, but also a time for increased awareness and celebration. It's songs of Pride, this week on Teenage Kicks.
