Happy new year from Teenage Kicks! This week, we celebrate a lot of birthdays — including Patti Smith, Paul Westerberg, and the late Andy Gill of Gang of Four — but our featured artist is the legendary DJ and hiphop pioneer Grandmaster Flash. Along with Melle Mel and the Furious Five, Grandmaster Flash helped create early hiphop classics – and blew minds with what he could do with a mixer, 3 turntables, and a crate of records. We’ll go back to New York and the birth of hiphop, as we celebrate Grandmaster Flash on Teenage Kicks.
