Sex Pistols' legendary show

The historical Free Trade Hall building in Peter Street, Manchester (pictured here on June 28, 2008) was the site of a legendarily influential concert by Sex Pistols on June 4, 1976. The building was sold in 1997 and has since been completely rebuilt on the inside, so only the facade is original. Today it houses the Radisson Edwardian Hotel.

On June 4, 1976, Sex Pistols played a show at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester. It’s often cited as one of the most influential shows in modern-rock history, given so many of those in attendance were so inspired by the concert that they went on to form bands or to take their existing bands to the next level. So we’ll celebrate not only Sex Pistols this week, but also the many artists they are meant to have influenced with their legendary concert in Manchester.

We’ll also hear a song that seems to be very popular among the buskers in the Portuguese city of Porto.
