Paul McCartney just celebrated his 80th birthday, and that got me thinking: I haven't really hosted a show about Liverpool, England, for quite some time. The amount of talent that has come out of that Merseyside city in addition to the Beatles is actually quite extraordinary. I look forward to proving that to you this week on the program.
The Royal Liver Building adorns the skyline in front of the River Mersey on March 16, 2017 in Liverpool, England. Liverpool's iconic Royal Liver Building was sold for 48 million GBP to Corestate Capital Holding of Luxembourg. The Grade I listed building, built in 1911, is famous for the two Liver birds adorning its clock towers. They are nicknamed Bella and Bertie. Bella looks out to sea to ensure the boats arrive safely into port, while Bertie watches over the city protecting the citizens of Liverpool. The birds were created by sculptor Carl Bernard Bartels.
