This week’s featured artists on Teenage Kicks are Depeche Mode. The band’s founding keyboardist, Andy Fletcher, died unexpectedly at the end of May. Fletcher was born on July 8, 1961, so Friday would have been his 61st birthday.

We’ll also celebrate the Go-Go’s, who, on July 8, 1981, released their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, which went to No. 1 in the U.S.
