The Time Machine makes a stop in 1998 this time, the year of the massive-selling The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Lucinda Williams issued her greatest album, called Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. Billy Bragg and Wilco turned some unfinished Woody Guthrie lyrics into songs on their Mermaid Avenue album. Neutral Milk Hotel made an indie rock masterpiece, and the Twin Cities band Semisonic made “Closing Time” popular. Former wrestler Jesse Ventura was elected governor of Minnesota. Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls pulled off their second three-peat of the decade, and after nine seasons, Seinfeld ended.

It's all 1998, our year on this episode of Time Machine Tuesday from The Current.
