This week on Teenage Kicks, we’re featuring artists recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with a particular focus on Eurythmics. The new wave duo, comprising Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, released their debut album in 1981. Although their debut didn’t make too many waves, its follow-up, 1983’s Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), went on to be a global hit.

Eurythmics have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide. The duo have won an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist in 1984, the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1987, the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1999, and in 2005 were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. In 2020 both Lennox and Stewart were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2022, the duo will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
