On the next Teenage Kicks, I'll be celebrating the 67th birthday of Bernard Sumner (Joy Division, Bad Lieutenant, New Order, Electronic); he was born Jan. 4, 1956. Other highlights will include birthday wishes to Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go's (born Jan. 7, 1959) and Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge (born Jan. 6, 1959).
I'll also remember Mark Hollis of Talk Talk (Jan. 4, 1955 – Feb. 25, 2019) and Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy (Aug. 20, 1949 – Jan. 4, 1986).
Kathy Valentine has been a working musician and songwriter for more than 40 years, starting her first band in her hometown of Austin and making a name for herself in the iconic band the Go-Go’s after moving to Los Angeles.
