Released on July 27, 1983, the album introduced the world to an artist who would become the most important female voice in the history of modern music, setting the standard for dance-pop and paving the way for numerous female artists in the 80s.

Today, Madonna is known as the Queen of Pop – she’s the best-selling female recording artist of all time and widely recognized for her continual reinvention and versatility, and for pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in mainstream music, all the while maintaining control over every aspect of her career.
