Sonny Knight, Hippo Campus, Fort Wilson Riot, Nona Marie to play August Music and Movies shows at Lake Harriet Bandshell

Vita.mn is hosting its sixth annual Music & Movies series over four consecutive Fridays at the Lake Harriet Bandshell this August, in collaboration with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board. The series will span four weeks and features a range of music and films.
Music will start at 7:30 each night, with the movie to follow at dusk. All shows in the series are free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
Friday, August 1
Music: Nona Marie & the Anonymous Choir are a group led by the frontwoman of Dark Dark Dark, with a dozen female singers covering songs by the likes of Irma Thomas and Curtis Mayfield. Movie: A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks and Madonna. Penny Marshall's 1992 movie received modestly warm reviews when it was released ("The baseball sequences, we've seen before," wrote Roger Ebert; "What's fresh are the personalities of the players") but has grown in stature since, being selected in 2012 for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry.
