Low are the only brand new entry this week. Their forthcoming Ones and Sixes comes out Sept. 11. Tickets just went on sale for their First Avenue gig in the mainroom on Nov. 11. Here are more details on the album including a great quote from Alan Sparhawk of the band about the creative process.
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to Hozier's show at Roy Wilkins Auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 10!
Wolf Alice jump back on the Chart after a week's hiatus having just played their first single on The Late Late Show with James Corden. I like James' quirky style and he seems to have good taste in music, too!
Again 11 of the 20 hits are female-fronted acts, which I believe is a record. It might not continue next week as Brandi Carlile and Alabama Shakes are inducted to the Hall of Fame. That's a debut for Brandi, who won over hearts at the Cabooze Outdoor Plaza a few weeks ago, and the fourth induction for Alabama Shakes, putting them at No.23 on the All-Time Hall of Fame. They're getting raves reviews, too, with shows coming up at L.A.'s Greek Theatre and Red Rocks Ampitheatre.
Hot Chip were also on late night television this week, performing "Started Right" off their latest Why Make Sense? on Conan on Monday.
Metric climbed high moving up eight places this week. Don't forget Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of the band stopped by The Current to record an in-studio earlier this year before Metric's show at the Xcel Energy Center!
Florence Welch comments on listening to the almost-cut "Various Storms and Saints" off her new album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful: "It's really exposing, hearing my own voice so close up and raw and talking about such personal stuff. I just was like, 'Oh my God, I can't do this!'"
Father John Misty holds on to the top for the third week. If you haven't been able to see him live this year, check his website for a beautiful introduction to the final song of the show and the hilarious breakdown of decorum of the encore.
