CHVRCHES make a quick debut this week: we've only been playing "Leave a Trace" for a few weeks, and the video just came out. Lead singer Lauren Mayberry had to comment on internet comments about her, again!
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to The Current's Music-on-a-Stick showcase at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand on Friday, Sept. 5 featuring performances by the Avett Brothers and Preservation Hall Jazz Band!
My Morning Jacket are back with "Compound Fracture," another song from the recent Waterfall, the title of which suggested how influenced they are by nature. Hear about the sweet soul and more of their musical influences when Jim James took over our airwaves for a Theft of the Dial.
The Blacks Keys are famed in these parts for being the most Hall of Fame-inducted band ever, so it's no surprise that the new project of Dan Auerbach is already on the Chart, too, being the highest new entry at No.15. The album Dreamily Yours releases Sept. 4. Are The Black Keys no more?! No official word yet; perhaps it depends on how well the Arcs go over and if Auerbach prefers staying home and producing after touring for more than 15 years solid with the Black Keys.
Elle King is inducted to the Hall of Fame for the very first time this week coinciding with her rise to the top 50 on pop radio!
Modest Mouse have the third song from their most recent album inducted to the Hall of Fame, putting Isaac and the gang in the top 40 on our All-Time Hall of Fame chart!
St. Vincent jumps to No.23 on that chart with her fourth induction. She wraps her tour in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 6 at the Fashion Meets Music Festival. This is appropriate as she's big buddies with supermodel Cara Delevingne!
Father John Misty holds on to No.1 for the fourth week in a row. If he stays on top for two more weeks he will be inducted and hold the record for longest No.1 residency ever! Don't forget you can see him playing at the Trampled by Turtles-curated Festival Palomino on Sept. 19 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.
Speaking of festivals, Apple continue to build their music brand by relaunching their festival in London this September at London's Roundhouse. Florence and the Machine are one of the headliners, along with One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Disclosure.
Finally! Chart Show denizens the Chemical Brothers premiered a scary cyborg apocalypse video featuring another track from the new album, Born in the Echoes.
Don't forget: next week I will start broadcasting live from the Minnesota State Fair 3-7 p.m. with a ton of guests joining me each day. I'd love to see you there!
