Florence and the Machine jump over Beck and Father John Misty to snatch the top spot and are inducted to the Hall of Fame! That puts her at No.13 on the All-Time Hall of Fame chart. Father John Misty gets his revenge by being inducted, too, and leaps over Flo to No.7 on the All-Time Hall of Fame chart.
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win VIP tickets to Festival Palomino at Canterbury Park on Saturday, Sept. 19!
The highest of five new entries is Jason Isbell, making his debut on our chart, with the first single off his new album Something More Than Free. A congratulations are in order for the new dad, too! Just yesterday Jason tweeted a photo of his newborn with wife Amanda Shires.
Kurt Vile is back at No.17 with a song about looking at himself in the mirror! His new album releases Sept. 25 and his tour includes a gig at Mill City Nights on Oct. 21 with opening acts Waxahatchee and Luke Roberts.
Mumford and Sons slip back on with "Ditmas" as they headlined the big Reading and Leeds Festival last weekend. If you love following rant-filled Twitter streams, the Mumfords lit a long one as the performance was broadcast by the BBC. Also at the fest were Wolf Alice whose performance was named the No.3 best moment. No.1 was Foals who look set to blow up huge with their new album.
Beach House are new at No.19 with one of my faves off the new Depression Cherry, our Album of the Week. I tried something a little different with the review this time, what my editor called a "thinkpiece"... who'd-a-thunk!?
And as David Safar revealed in his review of Mac DeMarco's Another One, the singer—new at No.20—invites you over for coffee at the conclusion of the album. Apparently some have taken him up on the offer!
Thanks to everyone who has taken us up on the offer to stop by the MPR booth at the Minnesota State Fair! We've hosted some awesome performances by Sonny Knight and the Lakers, Reina Del Cid, Charlie Parr and Haley Bonar. It was especially excellent to have the digital team "live blogging" on Monday, including a surprise interview with me and the debut of The Current's Mascot. What should we name that thing?!?!
I'll be at the Great Minnesota Get-Together on Thursday with Sean McPherson Trivia Mafia, and Friday is MPR Day with lots of special events at planned at Carousel Park including a performance by Black Diet at 4 p.m. CT. See you there!
