Visiting The Current's studio, Of Monsters and Men opened their session with the song, "I Of The Storm," prompting host Mac Wilson to ask if the band members experience heavy oceanic storms in their native Iceland.

"We don't get crazy storms, really," says singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir. "We just need to worry about volcanoes." Raggi Þórhallsson and Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson, who joined Nanna in The Current's studio, concur.

In the Twin Cities for the third time, Of Monsters and Men are not thinking about volcanoes as they prepare for their show tonight (Thursday, Oct. 1) at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. They're looking forward to playing songs from their second album, Beneath the Skin, which was recorded in Reykjavik and in Los Angeles. "We decided to go to LA because our producer had a studio there," Nanna says. "And we also figured it would be good to just have a change of scenery and hear the music in a different environment. … [and] when you're working at home, there's a lot of distractions and a lot of things happening. But we went to L.A. and we don't know anyone there, and we just got to work, work, work."

Beyond touring in support of their new album, Of Monsters and Men are also eager about their upcoming cameo in the popular television series, Game of Thrones, although a contract they signed with the program prohibits them from talking about it. "It was cool to be part of it," Raggi says. "We can say that."

Listen to the full interview to hear more about how Of Monsters and Men collaborated with a graphic designer to create unique logos for each of the songs on Beneath the Skin. The band members also describe their recent urban-exploration outing in Detroit. Whether pushing their sound into new territory, appearing on television or exploring urban ruins, Of Monsters and Men seem eager to embrace the next adventure that awaits them.
