Nearly 10,000 kids and their grown-ups turned out for the 12th installment of Rock the Cradle, a day of music and fun at Mia and the Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis.
With this year's Rock the Cradle happening a bit later in the calendar, attendees availed themselves of the pleasant weather, enjoying time lounging in the Mia Courtyard and taking in a couple outdoor performances by the McNasty Brass Band.
Indoors, Rock the Cradle kids and their grown-ups were entertained by the BATO BATO! marimba band from Breck School. The Current's DJs provided story time in the Pillsbury Auditorium, many of them also taking shifts spinning tunes in the ever-popular kids' disco.
Children's Minnesota provided a number of creative activities in a space dubbed "The Amazing Kid Zone," and young and old alike got their photos taken with the costumed mascots from Children's and from Minnesota United FC. Classical MPR produced a concert by The OK Factor, and the Saint Paul Saints challenged all comers with a game that combined a bit of baseball with Skee Ball.
