My colleagues and I at The Current are music geeks. We send around YouTube videos all the time. Jake Rudh sent me one a few weeks ago, and it's been stuck in my head ever since!

This feller calls himself King Leg. He is originally from Nebraska and has since moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream … and his dreams may come true. He has already been signed to Sire Records by the legendary label impresario Seymour Stein, the gent who signed artists like the Ramones, Talking Heads, The Replacements, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and Ice-T to his label. Stein has had quite a track record for talent.

My pick is the song "Great Outdoors"; the video for the song was produced by Dwight Yoakam, who is a big fan. King Leg has even opened some shows for Yoakam — they also share similar onstage dance moves!

I hear a hint of Roy Orbison's quavering vocal style on this tune, which will be featured on King Leg's Sire Records debut, due in the fall.
