Like Madonna three decades ago, The Guardian suggests this week, that our number one for the third week Janelle Monae has, "set a new bar for owning and extolling female sexuality." Especially with her new video for "Pynk", a colab with Grimes and another track from 'Dirty Computer' which boots up April 27th.

Sylvan Esso bump up eight places this week to #2 and are gearing up for a big summer tour, including Surly Brewing Festival Field on July 20th and the following two nights in Milwaukee!

Nathaniel Rateliff is the highest new entry and forms a nice double bill with another charter Leon Bridges, who moved up to #4 on this weekend's edition of Austin City Limits on PBS.

The Decemberists are back with a new entry at Number Eight with the title track from their new album. They played two sold out shows at The Palace two weeks ago and the stream of the second show is now archived.

With new entries from tUnE-yArDs and Matt and Kim, exactly half of the chart denizens have played at past Rock The Gardens, or will be there this year, like Father John Misty at #10, this year's headliner. Tickets are selling fast!

Matt and Kim were back in town on Monday night to play a sold out show at First Avenue and if you couldn't make it this California Aggie review might make you regret that even more! Describing it as one of the craziest concerts ever attended.

If you also missed tUnE-yArDs back in March there's a couple of chances for a road trip, to Winnipeg June 22nd for Jazz Winnipeg at The Garrick, or the next day in Chicago for Mamby on the Beach.

This Saturday is Record Store Day and many artists old and new are putting out special releases including a new Courtney Barnett single on red vinyl! Our intrepid Morning Show crew will be visiting as many of our fine Twin Cities stores as possible, look out for the van and thanks to City Pages, here's where you can make your plans.

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win a pair of passes to the Trampled By Turtles with The Pines at the Palace Theatre on May 4, 2018!
