Tyler Childers' latest album, Country Squire, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and American/Folk Albums charts. "I was pretty proud of it, man, and it meant a lot," Childers says of the debut. "I put a lot of time and a lot of effort into it, and for people to take a liking to it and put it there, that was really cool."

In between back-to-back nights at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Childers and his band visited The Current studio to play a song from Country Squire and two from Childers' previous album, Purgatory. Between songs, Childers talks with host Bill DeVille, reflecting on what it was like working with producer (and friend) Sturgill Simpson, and on the many musical influences that shaped the artist Childers is today.
