Russia launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine today, hitting cities and bases with airstrikes or shelling, as civilians piled into trains and cars to flee. (MPR News has all the latest news and analysis on the situation in Ukraine.)
The attack has drawn quick condemnation of Russia from international leaders. U.S. President Joe Biden said in a public statement that Russia has "chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering." Biden added that the U.S. and its allies will respond decisively, saying, "The world will hold Russia accountable."
As Germany's foreign minister said, “We woke up in a different world today.” As people around the world awake to the news, one can imagine hopes for peace are abundant. So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs about peace do you want to hear?
