Today is the birthday of the great Aretha Franklin, and she's also today's featured artist for Women's History Month.
Aretha Franklin is known as the Queen of Soul. With her iconic voice, Franklin not only recorded hit songs — she is one of the best-selling artists of all time — but she raised the bar and paved a pathway for women pop and soul singers to follow. Although many women who followed Aretha Franklin went on to much success, there are others who never quite got their due, or are at risk of being forgotten with time.
Let's turn that around this morning by elevating these great voices. So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear by great women soul singers?
