The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced today. Notable among them are Minneapolis artists Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (in the Musical Excellence Award category), as well as Dolly Parton, who initially expressed a desire to "respectfully bow out" of the running. The inductees also include such artists as Pat Benatar, Duran Duran and Lionel Richie.

"This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock and roll," John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said in a statement. "Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed." 

The inductees will be celebrated in a ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 5. Here is a full list of this year's honorees:
