On this Day in 1989, Nirvana released their debut album Bleach. While the band didn’t truly breakthrough until the release of Nevermind, they made an impression with Bleach. It is the only Nirvana album released on the Sub Pop label and their only album to feature drummer Chad Channing. It is Sub Pop's best-selling album to date and is unlikely to be surpassed by competitors. In April 2019, Bleach was ranked No. 13 on Rolling Stone's 50 Greatest Grunge Albums list.

Bleach is one of many debut albums that have made a lasting impact and continues to sell to this day. Debut albums are quintessential in that they encompass an artist or group’s intention as musicians. Furthermore, the direction of many an artist’s sound is influenced by the reception of their debut album following its initial release. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs off debut albums do you want to hear?
