Today is National Camera Day. The day commemorates photographs, the camera, and their invention. A camera is an irreplaceable tool used to record and replicate memories, events, and people/places. Today, taking pictures is easier than ever for anyone with a smartphone camera. Even so, digital and film cameras remain relevant and continue to record moments for us to look back on.

Music has a special way of reflecting on the times and telling stories that will live on forever. Many songs illustrate how photographs do the same. For some artists, like Jim Croce, a photograph can represent a painful memory. For others, like the band Filter, taking a picture is necessary in order to remember a good time. Let’s celebrate music’s connection to the camera. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that mention cameras or photographs?
