What makes an old song go viral? Gen-Z have started the trend of resurfacing vintage hits and sharing them across social media platforms in a massive way.  On the popular video app “TikTok”, songs like “Running Up That Hill” and “Dreams” are some of the golden ones that received the viral treatment. Kate Bush’s newfound fandom have recently taken to the rest of her catalog. “Babooshka” has already been used in over 200,000 videos by users. Whether it’s because of nostalgia, social influence, or strategic marketing by record labels, apps like TikTok have a significant impact on the music industry.

All music in new music to someone. Even songs that had success in their initial release can come back decades later and be listened to for the first time. All songs are fair game for becoming the next viral hit. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you think should be the next comeback hits?
