Today is National Fortune Cookie Day! The crisp, folded wafer is a traditional part of Chinese take-out, but they didn’t originate in China. The distinctive treat began in Japan, where elegant desserts and folding techniques are quintessentially Japanese. However, in Japan, the fortune was tucked in the fold on the outside of the cookie. In late 1800s, the fortune cookie migrated to the United States and made its transition and Americans have never stopped enjoying them. Fortune cookies are one of those little joys in life. Break one open and you’ll find a little slip of paper with a message of wisdom on it. The phrases range from bits of common sense to quotes from famous philosophers.
Let’s share some pleasant aphorisms. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs with lines of wisdom do you want to hear?
