September is Suicide Prevention Month and this week is National Suicide Prevention Week. The purpose of the annual week-long campaign in the United States is to inform and engage health professionals and the general public about suicide prevention and warning signs of suicide. By drawing attention to the problem of suicide in the United States, the campaign also strives to reduce the stigma surrounding the topic, as well as encourage the pursuit of mental health assistance. Suicide is a problem that touches the lives of many Americans. Suicide is currently ranked 10th for cause of death among all ages. With commitment and engagement in our communities, workplaces, and homes, together we can help reduce the number of suicides.

Resources are available for those who need help. The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available for everyone. It’s free, confidential, and accessible 24/7. The number to call or text is 988.

Let’s show support and remind all those suffering that they are not alone. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs of support and hope do you want to hear?
