Today is World College Radio Day! We are celebrating everything we love about college radio. Many of us at The Current came from student-run college stations. From those unique learning experiences, we were able to bring new ideas and originality into the public radio sphere. Stations like The Current exist because of the authenticity and innovation of college radio. Many bands and artists such as R.E.M., The Pixies, and The Replacements may not have become mainstream if not for the promotion of independent music from college radio stations. Like public radio, college radio exists solely because of a love for music and music discovery.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate college radio stations and all that they do to support musicians and inspire music lovers. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear from artists who were amplified by college radio?
