The documentary Meet Me in the Bathroom is kicking off the opening night of Sound Unseen Music and Film Fest tonight. Earlier this morning, Jill had a conversation with Lizzy Goodman, author of the book on which the documentary was based on. Goodman gave us insight into what went on in those formative years of the early aughts. In both the book and the film, artists like LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, and The Strokes are followed through a journey of self-discovery and musical revolution. Meet Me in the Bathroom is a portal into the time of rebirth of rock and roll in New York City - an era so niche that it can never be recreated. If you miss the chance to see the film at Sound Unseen, it will be airing at MSP Film at The Main this week as well.

As we look back at this era through archival footage and written history, let’s hear what it sounded like through the music that it birthed. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear from the early 2000’s New York music scene?
