Iggy Pop is far from retired. This week, the rock icon has announced that his next album: Every Loser is out January 6. The record includes his recent single “Frenzy,” featuring contributions from Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, and others. Album producer Andrew Watt claims the album was created to be played “as loud as your stereo will go”.
Often referred to as the “Godfather of punk”, Iggy Pop is known for his outrageous and unpredictable stage antics. Iggy Pop and The Stooges laid the groundwork for the future punk and hard rock movements in the late 70’s and are one of the core musical acts to come from Detroit, Michigan. Other groundbreaking rock legends from Motor City include, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, and The White Stripes. It’s undeniable that the city of Detroit has gritty, fearless rock’n’roll coursing through its veins. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what artists from Detroit do you want to hear?
