Coffee Break: 2023 Grammy nominations
by Jill Riley and Rachel Frances
November 16, 2022

This week, it’s all about music award nominees. Yesterday afternoon, the highly anticipated nominations for the 65th Grammy Awards were announced. The Recording Academy added a few new categories to the list of awards including Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical, Best Americana Performance, and Best Alternative Music Performance. Some nominations were a bit surprising; others were expected. Beyoncé leads the 2023 Grammys race with nine nominations, making her the most nominated artist ever, tying with husband Jay-Z. Former Minnesota resident and global superstar Lizzo is up for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Remixed Recording. The category for Best New Artist category includes a variety of acts. Some familiar artists in the list include Wet Leg, Omar Apollo, and Måneskin.
The 65th Grammy Awards ceremony will take place February 5, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.
This morning, we’ll be highlighting some music from the list of nominees – from artists to songs to albums. For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, help us build a playlist from the 2023 Grammy Nominations.
