Coffee Break: Hispanic Heritage Month
by Jill Riley and Nilufer Arsala
September 15, 2025

Each year, Hispanic Heritage Month is held to highlight the many contributions made by people in the Hispanic and Latino community to the history and culture of the United States.
The festivities started as a week of recognition in 1968 and were later expanded to a full month by President Reagan twenty years later. The timing of the celebratory month is intentional as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua each celebrate their respective Independence Days on September 15.
Let’s kick off this special month of celebration by creating a playlist full of our favorite artists.
So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs from artists with Hispanic and/or Latine heritage would you like to hear?
