Coffee Break: Twist on Tradition
by Jill Riley and Nilufer Arsala
September 16, 2025

Many artists have taken a traditional folk or blues song and made it their own. Sometimes it happens with a cover, and sometimes it can be part of a song that is incorporated into something new, or even just a reference.
Often, an artist performing a new twist on a traditional number can introduce it to a whole new audience, and sometimes the revived version can become more popular than the original. Let’s create a playlist of time-honored songs that have been brought into a new age.
So, for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what fresh takes on classic folk or blues songs would you like to hear?
