Coffee Break: National Public Lands Day
by Jill Riley and Nilufer Arsala
September 26, 2025

Each year, National Public Lands Day is held on the fourth Saturday in September to celebrate our national parks and getting into nature. The day was first observed in 1994, and each year, volunteers around the country donate their time and hard work to help restore and preserve all types of public lands. It has even become the country’s largest single-day volunteer effort!
Minnesota has plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy during Saturday’s special day, and walking through a park or green space is the perfect time to listen to music! Let’s craft a playlist to enjoy while out in nature.
So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs related to being outdoors would you like to hear?
(Nil’s note: this Coffee Break was a listener suggestion, and you can suggest topics, too! Just click here to send over an idea. :D )
