The Current celebrates Public Radio Music Day 2025
October 29, 2025

Wednesday, Oct. 29, is Public Radio Music Day. It’s a day when people across the country celebrate the unique role public radio plays in bringing people together through the power of music. Special programming on The Current includes live sessions, interviews, and performances featuring Jon Batiste, Mt. Joy, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, The Hold Steady, Royel Otis, and more.
This year marks the sixth annual Public Radio Music Day with the theme of “Live. Local. Essential.” In the wake of massive funding cuts to public media, this year's celebration highlights the vital role public radio music stations play to connect communities across America. Local stations bolster musicians and music economies, especially in support of live performances, and play an essential role in preserving regional history and culture.
The Current is supported by donations from listeners. Join the community that powers this music service by making a gift of any amount today at thecurrent.org/donate.
