A new genre of music in town, and it’s going viral. Cigarette Mom Rock seems to be the answer to Divorced Dad Rock, and it sounds like the post-grunge (mostly) women-fronted bands and artists of the late 90s and early 2000s mixed with a heaping spoonful of nostalgia.

Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman, Concrete Blonde, the Indigo Girls, and even early-era Avril Lavigne could be considered part of the genre, as well as bands like Third Eye Blind and Counting Crows. Let’s examine the genre by creating a playlist for those who rock.

So for todays 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs that could be considered cigarette mom rock would you like to hear?
