Big Turn Music Fest took place Friday and Saturday in Red Wing, Minnesota. This year’s iteration of the annual event brought more than 100 musical acts from across the region to 15 venues spread across the center of Red Wing, a city of 17,000 and the seat of Goodhue County, situated at the “big turn” of the Mississippi River. The two-day festival fills the city of Red Wing with music as performances take place in typical venues as well as in unexpected places like a clothing store or a bike shop.

As is typical for such an ambitious and wide-ranging music festival, day one of Big Turn featured an array of musical styles, including rock bands like The Von Tramps, Why Her and Elour; singer-songwriters like Fiona Hayes, Kodj, and Ditty Wish; hip-hop acts Hiahli and Sean Anonymous; big bands like The Bored, and Davina and the Vagabonds; and bluegrass-inspired acts Buffalo Galaxy, and Maygen and the Birdwatcher.
