There are many musical celebrations in May, but only one focuses on chamber music! And, it lasts the whole month! :D

According to Julie Amacher, the Program Director of The Current’s sister station, Your Classical, “Chamber music is designed to be performed by a small group of instruments, usually in a more intimate setting, a smaller venue, or even in someone’s home. There’s often one performer per part, which means each individual musician is integral to the whole piece.”

Chamber music has also made its way into the mainstream. It’s sometimes referred to as symphonic or orchestral pop and combines elements of rock with strings, horns, piano, and more. Let’s celebrate Chamber Music Month by creating a playlist that combines the best of both worlds.

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs that could be considered chamber pop would you like to hear?

(Nil’s note~ Want to learn more about chamber music? Check out The Chamber Music Stream from our sister station, Your Classical. Happy listening!)
