Brandon Flowers performed at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul on Tuesday night, delivering a set of songs that drew from his new country-tinged album, Thrasher, as well as four songs apiece from his earlier solo albums The Desired Effect and Flamingo. Flowers also played a handful of songs from The Killers discography.

Likely the biggest surprise of the night came when Flowers sang his song, “Tiger’s Blood” off the new album; the song contains a repeating lyric “Like a runaway train.” Flowers was then joined onstage by Minneapolis musician Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, and together they performed a cover of Soul Asylum’s massive hit song, “Runaway Train.” For the performance, Pirner wore a T-shirt in honor of Conrad Sverkerson, the late First Avenue stage manager.
