British artist MT Jones will be bringing his signature soulful sound to The Current’s Happy Hour Series at Insight Brewing on Thursday. Jones is heavily influenced by The Beatles, who are also from his home base of Liverpool, as well as the artists who built Stax and Motown Records.

There has been a resurgence of artists who show appreciation for classic soul through new sounds. Sometimes classified as “retro-soul,” this new crop of musicians are bringing classic sounds from the past into a new era.
