Wanted: The Outlaws, the legendary album featuring Waylon & Willie, Jessie Colter & Tompall Glaser went Platinum this day in 1976. It was the first country album to reach that status. Reason enough to feature a little “Outlaw Country” on this USofA. We also continued our salute to Todd Snider.

There are a bunch of great Americana gigs coming soon. Hayes Carll, Rodney Crowell, Rhett Miller, Maygen and the Birdwatcher, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band & the new supergroup called Rangers will all perform this week. We’ll hear them all! We’ll also remember Todd Snider. The legendary Americana artist passed away a few days ago.

This time United States of Americana featured a handful of tunes from on The Bootleg Series Vol. 18: Through the Open Window 1956-1963 by Bob Dylan. It’s a cool collection of tracks from Bob’s earliest days as a musician.

Jeff Tweedy performs on Thursday, Nov. 6, at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Bill DeVille will feature a few tunes from his ambitious new album ‘Twilight Override.' All this and much, much more on this week’s United States of Americana.

Today is the debut of the three-hour United States of Americana! Giving the show plenty of room to roam! This time I featured a bunch of songs featured in the great new FX series The Lowdown! JD McPherson is scoring and producing music for the series!

On this United States of Americana we’ll salute John Denver. Today is the anniversary of his passing. He was killed when the handmade, experimental airplane he was flying ran out of gas and crashed off the coast of Monterey Bay, California. I’ll feature some John Denver songs and a few covers.

This time on the show we’re gonna take a trip back in time to 1975. It was the year the mood ring was introduced, remember those? It was also a big year for Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn, who released her landmark tune “The Pill” and Bob Dylan released one of his most beloved albums Plus we’ll have the usual dose of Music discovery, including a new song from TX a singer & songwriter Presley Haile   

Sunday marks the one year anniversary of the passing of Kris Kristofferson.  This time we’ll salute one of country music’s greatest songwriters. We’ll hear a few of Kristofferson tunes and some choice covers Plus, we featured the usual dose of new music, including a song from the Austin TX band Briscoe!

The annual AmericanaFest was held in Nashville September 9 thru 13. There panel discussions day and evening stages all over Music City and the Americana Awards and Honors were held on Wednesday, September 10 at The Ryman Auditorium. This time we’ll hear some of the award winners and we’ll listen to some of the artists who performed at the event!
