Johnny Blue Skies, you know him, he’s the artist formerly known as Sturgill Simpson. He has a couple of big shows at the Armory in Minneapolis this week. We’ll celebrate with some extra tracks. I interviewed Hunter Metts a couple weeks ago. He’ll tell us his story, which includes appearing on American Idol. It’s all in this episode of United States of Americana!

It’s the final Sunday of April. A good reason to celebrate MN Music Month with an all local United States of Americana. We’ll feature all local tunes, new and old, this time) We’ll hear new Americana tunes from artists like Molly Dean, LASKA, Sleeping Jesus & Alan Sparhawk with Trampled By Turtles.

This time I featured a handful of tunes from the twangy new album from and Julien Baker and Torres new album called Send A Prayer My Way. Plus, I had the usual dose of new music and the weekly vintage vinyl pick.

Yesterday was Record Store Day. We celebrated it on Sunday, as well. I dropped the needle on a few of my recent finds & featured a few songs about those vinyl platters with the hole in the middle! I also played a bunch of new music by artists like Olivia Wolf, Noeline Hofman, North Mississippi Allstars and Devil Makes Three.

Tyler Childers is at Target Center on Wednesday, so we featured a few Tyler tunes on this USofA, including one from his incredible “in-studio session!”  We will also remember Merle Haggard and Tammy Wynette on the anniversary of their deaths.

I featured music from the new album from Alison Krauss and Union Station, which dropped on Friday. Plus, I’ll give away a couple of pairs of tickets to their Ledge amphitheater show on June 8, we also caught a tune from La Lom, who are set to perform at the Fine Line on April 4th.

This time I featured a bunch of artists that are Twin Cities bound in the upcoming week. Artists like Marshall Crenshaw, Lilly Hiatt , Gary Louris  and The War and treaty, I’ll feature all of them and more on this USofA! I also featured a couple of tunes from Bob Dylan’s legendary Bringing It All Back Home album, which turns 60 this weekend.  

The new Charley Crockett album is out this week! We’re gonna check some tunes! Also, my old friend Gary Louris of the Jayhawks just turned 70, we’ll hear a couple of tunes from his new solo album & we’ll remember musician, actor & entertainer David Johansen, who passed away a couple weeks ago.

This time we’ll celebrate the new album from Jason Isbell! It’s truly a solo album. The album simply features Jason, his vintage Martin guitar and some brand new songs. It was cut live at Electric Lady Studios in New York.

March is Women's History Month. On this week’s show, we'll celebrate with music from artists like Margo Price, Waxahatchee, Lilly Hiatt, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. And a few classics from artists like Dusty Springfield.
