Howler's Max Petrak is gearing up for a tour with Howler in support of their album World of Joy out March 25, but in his spare time he makes music with former Miami ballerina Erin Ross and just over a year ago, SCRNS was conceived.

Ahead of their very sold out gig at First Avenue on Valentine's Day, Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and Matt Helders came by The Current studios to record an intimate live in-studio session with host Mary Lucia.

It's been quite the ride since Eric Pollard released his debut, self-titled album under the name Actual Wolf last fall. He performed tracks off the roots-rock record at The Current's 9th Birthday with an impressive backing band of local artists including brothers Jake (guitar) and Jeremy (drums) Hanson, Erik Koskinen — to whom the record's "vibe" is attributed — and Low's Steve Garrington.

Fresh from playing a gig at the Fine Line in Minneapolis last night, Brooklyn-based St. Lucia stopped into The Current's studios to talk to Mary Lucia and to play a few songs off their new album, 'When the Night.'

Adam Roth left the south to pursue music in Los Angeles. It was there he met up with two producers from Stockholm who inspired him to meld his Americana roots with electronic production. Thus, Grizfolk was born, and it's been a quick ascent to the spotlight since then.

Three years since their last performance in our studios, Buffalo Moon has gone through big changes in that time. Most notably: lead singer Karen Freire made the move to New York to clear her head after some personal trials. That transition follows the path of so many other local acts in recent years -- members splitting time between Minnesota and other places out-of-state.

Sean Anonymous knows his way around the Twin Cities music community. At this point, his name is ubiquitous due to nonstop gigging and collaborations. Over the past year, you've likely caught him performing with the likes of Wide Eyes, Dimitry Killstorm, Phillip Morris, Lizzo and Rapper Hooks. But the main stage set-up you've probably witnessed him in is with improvisational rock band Dreamcrusher.
